About the App

Dr. Domar and Dr. Grill, the creators of this app, are reproductive psychologists with over 45 years combined experience, at two of the most prominent infertility centers in the US. They provide counseling for women, men and couples as they work to build their families. and saw an unmet need. Many people don’t have the time, money, or geographical access to see a therapist specially trained in infertility counseling. While FertiCalm is not substitute for treatment with a licensed therapist or psychologist, FertiCalm serves as a helpful resource for women in the exact moment they feel distress, whenever and wherever they are, by providing them with coping techniques for many common social scenarios faced by women on their family building journey.

Dr. Alice D. Domar

Dr. Alice D. Domar is considered to be one of the world’s top experts on the relationship between stress and infertility. She conducts research and has published dozens of articles in peer-reviewed journals on the topic, she lectures internationally at academic conferences, has trained health care professionals worldwide, has written two books on the topic, and is the founder of the Mind/Body Program for Infertility. She was the recipient of two grants from the National Institute of Mental Health to study the impact of infertility on emotional health. She is a practicing psychologist and director of integrative care at Boston IVF, the executive director of the Domar Centers for Mind/Body Health, and an associate professor, part-time, in obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive biology at Harvard Medical School. She is an editor of Fertility and Sterility, the official journal of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, and is a past chair of the Mental Health Professional Group of ASRM.

 

Dr. Elizabeth Grill

Dr. Elizabeth Grill is Director of Psychological Services at the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine and is Associate Professor of Psychology in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Medicine, and Psychiatry at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She is also an Assistant Attending Psychologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Grill is experienced as a counseling psychologist and medical researcher with a special focus on the emotional aspects of infertility, IVF treatment, third party reproduction, oncofertility, fertility preservation, sexual dysfunction, and stress and infertility. She served as Chair of the Mental Health Professional Group and served two terms on the Content Review Committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Grill sits on several professional boards and is an editorial reviewer for peer reviewed journals. She is the author of numerous articles and book chapters, has lectured worldwide to patient and medical audiences and has participated in media interviews related to the emotional aspects of reproductive medicine.
