He has also held positions of medical leadership in clinical development, business development, and medical affairs at Schering-Plough Oncology, Ortho Biotech, CardioDx, Flexion Therapeutics, Baxalta and Shire. Dr. Haita Makanji joined Magellan Rx Management in 2014. She is currently the vice president of clinical strategy and innovation within specialty in which she assumes several roles and responsibilities, including development and management of specialty clinical programs and interfacing with payers and pharmaceutical companies to bring unique solutions to curb the rising specialty spend. For clinical program development and management, she is responsible for design, implementation, and day-to-day operations of specialty programs that improve the quality of care for patients with high cost disease states including but not limited to rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, oncology, and rare diseases such as hemophilia. Furthermore, she oversees the MRx Comprehensive Oncology Management Program which encompasses utilization management with unique strategies to curb the rising spend in oncology and complex case management. A significant portion of her role has also expanded to lead clinical program development efforts for other lines of business including employer groups and Medicaid plans. Additionally, Dr. Makanji leads a team of pharmacists, including board-certified oncology pharmacists who are tasked to support payers and assist with comprehensive medical and pharmacy data analyses, prior authorization and medical policy design, and organizing unique key opinion leader thought leadership panels. Dr. Makanji has been in the healthcare industry for over 10 years. She began her career as a HIV-certified pharmacist at Walgreens and transitioned to managed care in early 2012 with CDMI, LLC (which was later acquired by Magellan Rx Management in 2014). Dr. Makanji earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston, MA. She is currently a registered pharmacist in both Rhode Island and Connecticut and has additional advanced training in HIV from University of Buffalo, and medication therapy management and immunizations from the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). Jean-Pierre LEHNER MD, cardiologist and internal medicine graduate served the pharmaceutical industry for 30 years. Before joining pharmaceutical industry Jean-Pierre was practitioner in Hospital Bichat, Paris (France), where during the last 4 years he was heading the Intensive Care Unit of Cardiology.
Dr. Lehner assumed various roles in medical affairs. In 1981, he joined Roussel-Uclaf Company first as medical director in France, then in charge of international clinical development untill1992. Dr. Lehner served successively at Sanofi as Head of Clinical Development for 4 years before taking the scientific director position in France until 2002 and developed the European medical team before taking the position of Global Medical Director in 2005.
In 2009 Dr. Lehner was appointed as Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer reporting to the Head of R&D and to Sanofi’s CEO. In this position Jean-Pierre had responsibility for world-wide medical affairs, regulatory affairs, safety and HEOR research including comparative effectiveness. During these years Jean-Pierre had acquired à very large expertise in the benefit-risk assessment of marketed and non-marketed products and defended many regulatory files in front of the Global agencies.

Amrik brings 20+ years of experience in the strategic design and analysis of clinical trials and management/co-ordination with specialized CROs in areas of Statistics and Programming, including machine learning/AI. His experience in drug development spans Discovery thru Phase 3 clinical trials with time spent at various big and small Pharma companies. His recent experiences include consultation for various biotechs in the areas of liver disease, cell therapy and rare diseases such as ALS and PSC.
Amrik is passionate in leveraging the intersection of statistics, logic and analytics as applied to real world data to develop robust and refined algorithmic tools for identifying, managing and treating patients. Beyond that, his areas of interest include sequential designs, hypothesis testing with multiplicity control, longitudinal/mixed models including PK/PD and small sample inference. He holds a B.E. from Punjab Engineering College, India and a doctorate (ScD) in Biostatistics from Harvard University.
Dr. Anju Bhargava earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Washington State University, an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program. She completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the University of Delaware Counseling Center. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington since 2014 and is a member of the APA. Prior to Curio Digital Therapeutics, she worked as a Research Psychologist for the Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency, Connected Health Branch formerly known as the National Center for Telehealth and Technology. She is passionate about combining psychology and technology as she previously co-founded iMomConnect, a child development company focused on promoting optimal cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in children using mobile applications. In addition, she has previously served as an Assistant Professor of Psychology for undergraduate and graduate students.
